Luas

It's finally finished!

Luas full length by Duq, on Flickr

I've been wanting to build a Luas for a long time. I started about a year ago, when I got the general concept for the cars figured out, but then abandoned it for a while. Sometimes the inspiration just isn't there...
Anyway, over the past few weeks I figured out the cabin, the connections between the sections, improved the doors, which required a different way of doing the roof....

The middle section still uses the first concept for the roof, using brackets for the thin yellow line.

Encanto Madrigal House x2

With 43202 on sale during Prime Day I took the opportunity to pick up a second set and have a go at Brick Artisan's MOC I had my eye on through Rebrickable. Great build that's going to fit in well in our mini/midi modular city.

Brick Week School Exhibition

To promote Brick Féile and for some learning and fun I have organised a Brick Week in my school for the past couple of years. Each child gets to build a creation linked with Brick Féile (this year was an animal and its habitat to tie in with the Zoo Group Project), there is a Guess the Minifigures in the Jar contest, I share some videos of techniques and interesting Lego-related fun from youtube, the children get to do some Lego activity and colouring sheets, and finally the week finishes off with an exhibition in our school library.
This year for the exhibition I brought a moc of Castletown House, a Georgian house in Celbridge, Co.

Endor

Just a teaser for the Endor diorama I'll be bringing to Brick Féile...

There's a lot still to do over the next few days, but it's coming along nicely.

Brick Built Calendars

Over the past few months I’ve participated in an Instagram building challenge for Brick Built Calendars. I started in February using the Friends Brick Calendar set 850581. As you can see from my latest calendar, I’m trying to outdo myself each month. Laughing Hope you enjoy.

July 2023

…and with lights out…

The lights are a couple of strings of mini fairy lights run through the model and the stars are glow in the dark 1x1 round tiles. Also, you might notice that the 30th is missing, or likely turned the wrong way.

Natural History Museum

Hi everyone, other than my intro this is my first real post here so hopefully I’m doing this right.

I’ve been working on a Natural History Museum moc for a few months now. I fell in love with the T-Rex Dinosaur Fossil Exhibit set (76940) when it came out and had envisioned a little museum background.

Well after a couple of months it’s morphed into what you see here. The overall footprint is 96 x 32 studs, using a MILS style base.

Open L-Gauge

A new site has been launched with free train instructions: open-l-gauge.eu..
There aren't that many models to choose from just yet but I'm sure that will change as more people get to know the site.

RPSI No 3 RH Smyth

Thought I would try building a steam train for a change rather than the usual NIR Diesels. Went for something small. RPSI No 3 RH Smyth. Placed the motor in a seacow ballast wagon.

Land Rover Classic Defender 40650: Paul Smith Edition

I wanted to give building the Land Rover Classic Defender 40650 a go before its release but didn't have the parts to build in a single colour like the official set.

I did have enough to build the amazing Paul Smith designed edition of the Defender though.
