I've just bought my first Lego on eBay. For €50 I bought the old technic car 8860 with two little town sets thrown in for good measure. The seller is in Donegal so no mad shipping charges. When the box arrived it was a bit of a shock...
The outside of the box was taped with masking tape. When I removed some of the tape to open the box a lot of the print came off with the tape. And the original box was part of my reason to buy this lot.
I knew I was buying used, but didn't realise how badly chewed the parts would be. Then to top it all off all three sets are incomplete. In total I'm missing about 100 parts out of a total of 1000. Oh, and the instruction book is ripped and missing a page.
I'm waiting for a reply from the seller now to see what he is prepared to do about it; send it all back for a full refund, send me all the missing pieces (unlikely) or give me a sizeable discount so I can buy all the missing pieces on Bricklink.

Just thought I'd share this experience with you guys.
